{"id":233065,"date":"2026-04-03T06:12:24","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T06:12:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/233065\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T06:12:24","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T06:12:24","slug":"artemis-ii-flight-day-2-crew-houston-poll-go-for-translunar-injection-burn","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/233065\/","title":{"rendered":"Artemis II Flight Day 2: Crew, Houston Poll &#8216;Go&#8217; for Translunar Injection Burn"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>NASA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission\/artemis-ii\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Artemis II<\/a> mission management team polled \u201cGo\u201d for the translunar injection burn to send the crew in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/humans-in-space\/orion-spacecraft\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Orion<\/a> spacecraft toward the Moon and send humans around Earth\u2019s closest celestial neighbor for the first time since <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/mission\/apollo-17\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Apollo 17<\/a> in 1972.<\/p>\n<p>The spacecraft will ignite its main engine on the service module for five minutes and 49 seconds beginning at 7:49 p.m. EDT.<\/p>\n<p>Orion\u2019s main engine provides up to 6,000 pounds of thrust, enough to accelerate a car from 0 to 60 mph in about 2.7 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>NASA astronauts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/people\/reid-wiseman\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Reid Wiseman<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/humans-in-space\/astronauts\/victor-j-glover\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Victor Glover<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/people\/christina-koch\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Christina Koch<\/a> and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut <a href=\"https:\/\/www.asc-csa.gc.ca\/eng\/astronauts\/canadian\/active\/bio-jeremy-hansen.asp\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">Jeremy Hansen<\/a> began their day at 2:35 p.m. with the playing \u201cGreen Light,\u201d by John Legend and Andre 3000 by the mission control team and moved into their first full day of activities in space.
