SAN ANTONIO – At Krueger Middle School in North East ISD, students interested in astronomy-related fields are inspired by the Artemis launch. <\/p>\n
“I just thought it was very exciting to see the opportunity, to have the opportunity to see history being created. It was just a very exciting experience,” says Ryan, a student with the Space and Engineering Technologies Academy, or SETA. <\/p>\n
“SETA is a free tuition engineering magnet program in Northeast ISD. And we are open to students from all over,” says Chris Wilson, Assistant SETA Director at Krueger Middle School. The program is an engineering program with a focus on space.<\/p>\n
“Everything we do for robotics is geared for what are they going to need when they go to the moon? What are they going to need when they go to Mars? And so they learn how to engineer these robots, how to code these robots, as well as how to get to these places, such as rockets,” says Wilson. <\/p>\n
Tracy Thomas is the Principal of Applied Engineering and Robotics teacher at SETA. She loves inspiring the next generation of engineers. <\/p>\n
“It’s super exciting, we have, you know, when students come back, and they’re like, I became a mechanical engineer, I became an electrical engineer and I want to be an astronaut,” says Thomas. <\/p>\n
“I really like this class mainly because it’s very hands-on. We get to do a lot of projects and a lot of working with teams,” says Ryan. <\/p>\n
These classes will continue to follow the Artemis II mission daily until they splash down in the Pacific on April 10th. <\/p>\n
