{"id":233342,"date":"2026-04-03T11:16:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T11:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/233342\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T11:16:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T11:16:10","slug":"more-houston-isd-schools-could-join-nes-model-but-key-details-unclear","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/233342\/","title":{"rendered":"More Houston ISD schools could join NES model, but key details unclear"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More Houston ISD schools could join the NES model as interest grows \u2014 but the district hasn\u2019t said which campuses could be impacted.<\/p>\n<p>HOUSTON \u2014 More Houston ISD schools could soon join the district\u2019s New Education System, a model that has already reshaped more than 100 campuses since the state takeover \u2014 but key details about which schools could be affected remain unclear.<\/p>\n<p>District leaders say at least nine principals have voluntarily expressed interest in joining the NES model, signaling a possible expansion of the system that has drawn both support and criticism across Houston.<\/p>\n<p>The NES model was introduced after the state\u2019s takeover of Houston ISD in 2023. Since then, dozens of campuses have transitioned to the system, which includes a more centralized curriculum, longer school days and increased funding per student.<\/p>\n<p>HISD now has about 130 campuses operating under the NES model.<\/p>\n<p>District leaders say those changes are helping drive improvements, which is contributing to the growing interest from additional schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey see what&#8217;s happening at other campuses across the district. The gains.
