Thousands are expected downtown for the annual Passion of Christ reenactment, a Good Friday tradition that begins at Travis Park and ends at San Fernando Cathedral.<\/p>\n

SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A long-standing Good Friday tradition is set to bring thousands of people to downtown San Antonio as the annual Passion of Christ reenactment gets underway Friday morning.<\/p>\n

The live procession begins at Travis Park, where participants will gather for a prayer at 9:30 a.m. before retracing the final hours of Jesus Christ through the streets of downtown.<\/p>\n

Organizers say the reenactment will conclude around 12:30 p.m. at San Fernando Cathedral, where three crosses, representing Jesus and the two thieves crucified alongside him, will mark the end of the journey.<\/p>\n

The event draws large crowds each year, offering a time for reflection and faith during the Christian observance of Good Friday.<\/p>\n

Archbishop Gustavo Garc\u00eda-Siller said the message of the Passion remains relevant today.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen innocent people are being killed, and then we go into our own stories, we experience, in some way, the Passion of Christ,\u201d Garc\u00eda-Siller said. \u201cWe have the alternative to make the Passion of Christ alive in us, and say yes to salvation or not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Organizers encourage attendees to arrive early as large crowds are expected throughout the morning.<\/p>\n
