A 17-year-old and two Mathis High School band directors were arrested in connection with an alleged assault on campus, police said. The case remains ongoing.<\/p>\n
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas \u2014 A 17-year-old was arrested Thursday at Mathis High School, according to Mathis Police Chief John Jones.<\/p>\n
RELATED: Three Odem ISD coaches indicted, accused of failing to protect student during assault on school bus<\/a><\/p>\n Jones said Joe Ramirez was taken into custody on campus and transported to the San Patricio County Jail. He was booked on charges of unlawful restraint of a person under 17, a state jail felony, and indecency with a child involving sexual contact, a second-degree felony.<\/p>\n Jones said Brandon Brumbelow and Marcos Fleming Gil were also arrested and booked into the San Patricio County Jail. Both are charged with abandoning or endangering a child, elderly individual, or disabled individual. Both men work at the school as band directors, according to Jones.<\/p>\n Court records obtained by 3NEWS show Brumbelow and Fleming Gil were indicted in March on those charges and arrested Thursday.<\/p>\n The case remains ongoing, Jones said.<\/p>\n According to a source familiar with the investigation, the alleged assault involved repeated incidents over a period of several months on campus.<\/p>\n 3NEWS has reached out to Mathis ISD for comment.
