HOUSTON (April 3, 2026) \u2013 Houston Dynamo 2\u00a0interim head coach\u00a0Jeremy\u00a0Hurdle\u00a0was named the\u00a0MLS NEXT Pro Coach of the Month\u00a0for March, while goalkeeper\u00a0Pedro\u00a0Cruz\u00a0earned\u00a0MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Month\u00a0honors, the league announced today.<\/p>\n
Dynamo 2 sit second in the Western Conference after opening the season with four consecutive shutout victories under the leadership of Hurdle. Houston is the only team in the league who has not conceded a goal in 2026 and ranks third in the league in scoring (13 goals). Notably, the team has totaled 23 goal contributions, with 12 different players already finding the back of the net.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Highlights from March include a\u00a04-0 victory<\/a>\u00a0over conference rivals Tacoma Defiance (March 8), where Houston\u2019s defense held Tacoma to just one shot on target from eight total attempts, a\u00a0dominant 5-0 win<\/a>\u00a0versus Portland Timbers2 (March 15) and a\u00a02-0 triumph<\/a>\u00a0against in-state rivals North Texas SC (March 21). The five-goal performance versus Portland earned Dynamo 2\u00a0MLS NEXT Pro Team of Matchweek 3<\/a>\u00a0honors, with seven players contributing to the scoring effort. Houston opened the season with a\u00a02-0 victory<\/a>\u00a0over\u00a0Colorado Rapids 2, with goals from midfielders\u00a0Samir Mohammad\u00a0and\u00a0D\u2019Alessandro Herrera.<\/p>\n Cruz, the\u00a02025 Goalie Wars winner<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a02025 MLS NEXT Pro Goalkeeper of the Year finalist<\/a>, kicked off his 2026 season on a strong note, appearing in three of the four matches during March and helping Dos to three clean sheets with eight saves and a flawless 100 save percentage.
