Calallen<\/a> had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Zapata Hawks<\/a> with a sharp 19-2 victory. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 games by six runs or more this season.<\/p>\n Calallen got a great performance from Collier Carroll<\/a> as he struck out 11 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Carroll has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.<\/p>\n On the hitting side, Reese Rusher<\/a> was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That’s the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Drayson Gamez<\/a>, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.<\/p>\n Calallen kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they’ve now got at least eight hits in six consecutive contests.<\/p>\n Calallen’s record now sits at 22-2. As for Zapata, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10-1.<\/p>\n We’ve got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Calallen is set to challenge their familiar foe Robstown at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Zapata will face off against rival King at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.<\/p>\n
