It’s Friday at the 2026 Valero Texas Open<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The first round had a 90-minute rain delay to kick off play at TPC San Antonio’s Oaks Course on Thursday. Mark Hubbard paced the field early after an opening 7-under 65, and there’s a large chasing pack with plenty of notable names like Tony Finau, Tommy Fleetwood, Will Zalatoris and more.<\/p>\n

The winner will take home 500 FedEx Cup points and $1.764 million. And if that’s not enough, they’ll get a trophy and cowboy boots at week’s end, too. An added bonus could be a Masters invite, if the winner on Sunday isn’t already in the field.<\/p>\n

Closing with four birdies over his last five holes, the Scottish lefty shot 64 and has it to 14 under, good for a four-shot lead at the Valero. Ludvig Aberg is at 10 under in solo second.<\/p>\n

Aberg made birdie on the par-4 fifth hole and then eagle on the par-4 sixth after holing out from the fairway to get to 11 under and tie for the Valero lead.<\/p>\n

The first round was suspended at 7:56 p.m. ET due to darkness, with 24 players left to complete the round. The first round resumed Friday at 7:47 a.m. ET and was completed at 8:50 a.m. ET The second round began as scheduled at 7:30 a.m. ET.<\/p>\n

The purse for the 2026 Valero Texas Open is $9.8 million. The winner gets $1.764 million, or 18 percent of the total purse. The top-two finishers will clear seven figures.<\/p>\n
