Deputies reported finding a yellow plastic baggie containing a white crystal-like substance inside his jacket pocket, according to the document.

According to the affidavit, the substance weighed approximately 2.12 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine using a TruNarc analyzer.

Esparza denied ownership of the substance, claiming the jacket belonged to a friend, the affidavit stated.

However, deputies placed him under arrest on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a state jail felony under Texas law.

He was transported to the Deputy Peter J. Herrera Station and booked into a holding cell later that evening.

The case has been submitted for prosecution, and formal charges are pending.

Sign up to receive the top interesting stories from in and around our community once daily in your inbox.

EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A routine traffic stop in East El Paso resulted in the arrest of…

[12
138,140,139
post-233986","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-el-paso","tag-el-paso","tag-el-paso-headlines","tag-el-paso-news
["GET
