There are plenty of signs.<\/p>\n<p>First of all, their car is spotless. Not &#8220;pretty clean&#8221;, I&#8217;m talking like showroom-shiny. It won&#8217;t be long now.<\/p>\n<p>Someone new to town will also underestimate Lubbock&#8217;s weather and have major issues figuring out what to wear. It&#8217;s a daily roulette here. Bonus points if they are still carrying a jacket around at noon, just SURE they will be able to wear it again the same day&#8230;yeah, no.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll also catch them underestimating the wind. They step outside casually\u2026 and immediately get hit with a gust that rearranges their entire personality. Hair? Gone. Dignity? Questionable. Sunglasses? People here don&#8217;t use turn signals. If you see someone using them, they are 100% an outsider. Give it time. They haven\u2019t picked their \u201cride-or-die\u201d taco spot yet, and they\u2019re still asking where to go, like there\u2019s a correct answer. There isn\u2019t. Just strong opinions and louder arguments.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1286\" data-end=\"1371\">But the biggest tell? They still think the dust is temporary. Like it\u2019s just a phase.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1373\" data-end=\"1382\">It\u2019s not.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1384\" data-end=\"1585\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Give them a few weeks. They\u2019ll be complaining about the wind, defending their favorite gas station, and saying things like \u201cit\u2019s not that bad\u201d with a completely straight face.
