While UConn commands the spotlight<\/a> as it strives for yet another undefeated season and national championship, the Women\u2019s Final Four<\/a> has another school that is certainly capable of cutting down the nets.<\/p>\n

Texas is also a No. 1 seed and has looked more dominant than any other team.<\/p>\n

This recent run started with the Longhorns ripping through the SEC tournament, including a 17-point victory over powerhouse South Carolina in the championship game.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Longhorns next face fellow No. 1 seed UCLA<\/a> on Friday as a 1.5-point favorite with a total of 132.5 points.<\/p>\n

Texas defeated the Bruins, 76-65, on Thanksgiving in a Las Vegas tournament. That was a long time ago, but it was also UCLA\u2019s only loss this season.<\/p>\n

This matchup figures to once again be a clash of strengths.<\/p>\n

UCLA is known for its offense, led by 6-foot-7 center Lauren Betts, who could be the top draft pick this year.<\/p>\n

However, Texas\u2019 calling card is defense and it has 6-6 Kyla Oldacre, who can sufficiently defend Betts without a double-team.<\/p>\n

Overall, the Longhorns bring a great deal of toughness on defense and that proved to be a difference-maker in their first meeting and also currently during the big dance. <\/p>\n

Texas just held Michigan to 41 points and has not allowed more than 58 points in its first four games.\u00a0<\/p>\n

My lone concern is a UT offense that does not utilize the 3-pointer much, but coach Vic Schaefer is optimizing his team\u2019s skills in multiple ways. <\/p>\n

I like the Bruins, but I just feel the Longhorns are in an excellent groove.<\/p>\n
