History <\/a><\/p>\n
<\/p>\n OREM, Utah\u00a0\u2013 The UT Arlington softball team fell in game two, 7-13, to Utah Valley on Friday evening at Wolverine Softball Field in Orem, Utah.<\/p>\n The Mavericks now move to a 15-19 overall record and a 4-4 record in WAC play.<\/p>\n At the plate, UTA was led by freshman Valeria Feeney<\/a>, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, one RBI and one double. Other key game two contributors for the Mavericks include Dee McClarity<\/a> (2 RBI, home run), Kelsey Creech<\/a> (2 RBI, home run) and Marley Neises<\/a> (1 RBI double).<\/p>\n HOW IT HAPPENED<\/p>\n UTA struck first in the top of the first inning, as McNulty delivered an RBI double to left center, scoring Valeria Feeney<\/a> to give the Mavericks a 1-0 lead.<\/p>\n Utah Valley responded in the bottom half with a run of its own, as Tatum Hall doubled down the right field line for an RBI, bringing home Britney Moreno to tie the game at 1-1.<\/p>\n The Wolverines broke things open in the second inning. Payge Armedariz launched a two-run home run to deep center, scoring Angelique Mann and giving UVU a 3-1 advantage. Amber Rodriguez followed with a two-RBI double, and Hall added an RBI groundout to extend the lead. Megan Stertzer capped the inning with an RBI single through the left side, pushing the score to 7-1.<\/p>\n UTA began to chip away in the fourth, as Kelsey Creech<\/a> connected on a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 7-3.<\/p>\n Utah Valley answered in the bottom of the inning with Bailey Marvin’s RBI single to center. Later in the frame, Armedariz added another RBI with a double to right center, extending the lead to 9-3.<\/p>\n In the fifth, Dee McClairty hit a two-run home run to pull the Mavericks within four, 9-5. Marley Neises<\/a> followed later in the inning with an RBI double down the left line trimming the deficit to 9-6. However, Hall responded for UVU with a two-run home run to right center in the bottom of the half, extending the lead to 12-6.<\/p>\n UTA added its last run in the sixth as freshman Valeria Feeney<\/a> doubled down the left line to score Talia Maldonado<\/a>, making it, 7-12. Utah Valley, however, closed out the scoring in the bottom of the half with a sacrifice fly from Maddie McSorley, bringing in Mann to score, 13-7.<\/p>\n UTA was unable to generate additional offense, as UVU closed out the game with a 12-7 victory. — #BuckEm \u2013<\/p>\n \nFOLLOW THE MAVS
