After a wild weekend encounter<\/a> with several ominous-looking fins slicing through the San Antonio River Walk, people all over the city have one pressing question on their minds: Are there sharks in the River Walk?\u00a0<\/p>\n

The short answer is no. The long answer is also no \u2014 but nice try, Netflix<\/a>. According to a weekend update from Visit San Antonio, the “shark” fins that freaked out onlookers Saturday are actually part of a promo project for an incoming thriller flick from the streaming service.<\/p>\n

“Did y\u2019all catch the sharks cruising along the River Walk last night?! \ud83e\udd88” the Saturday Facebook post reads. The update included a video depicting multiple shark fins protruding from the River Walk’s murky waters, while locals and tourists alike observed them in apparent disbelief.<\/p>\n

“Yes\u2026 it\u2019s REAL \u2014 not AI \ud83d\ude06,” the post continued. Of course, social media users couldn’t help but chime in.\u00a0“Guess there won\u2019t be any swimming in the river walk today! \ud83d\ude02” wrote Shelly Ashley Childress. “Netflix presents Sharknado 15: The Riverwalknado…” Charles Alvin Elliott added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

As it turns out, the fins are teasing “THRASH,” an R-rated horror flick<\/a> about a group of hurricane survivors trapped in rising floodwaters after a devastating hurricane hits their coastal town.<\/p>\n

They’re alone, they’re trapped and they’re “surrounded by hungry sharks,” the post caption reads. The movie is set for an April 10 premier directly through Netflix. “Keep an eye out\u00a0\ud83d\udc40,” Visit San Antonio reps added.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For anyone still skeptical about the water: the San Antonio River Walk is a controlled urban waterway, not a shark habitat.
