{"id":235299,"date":"2026-04-04T21:01:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-04T21:01:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/235299\/"},"modified":"2026-04-04T21:01:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-04T21:01:08","slug":"cinergy-entertainments-plans-for-corpus-christi-venue-stall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/235299\/","title":{"rendered":"Cinergy Entertainment&#8217;s plans for Corpus Christi venue stall"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Plans for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/news\/south-texas\/article\/cinergy-entertainment-corpus-christi-20782142.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Cinergy Entertainment<\/a> \u2014 the Dallas-based company known for its family-friendly entertainment venues that combine silver screen cinemas with sports simulators, video game arcades, laser tag, axe-throwing and other adrenaline-fueling fun \u2014 to open a $45 million entertainment center in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/lifestyle\/article\/corpus-christi-most-underrated-city-20811892.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Corpus Christi<\/a> have hit a snag.<\/p>\n<p>Last July, the Corpus Christi City Council approved a $4.15 million property tax incentive to lure the company into building one of its multiuse entertainment venues on a 10-acre plot of land at the intersection of Rodd Field Road and South Padre Island Drive near Oso Bay. Company officials \u2014 along with city leaders \u2014 gathered at the site for an official groundbreaking ceremony in September, with CEO Jeff Benson saying he expected to \u201chave trucks moving by December 1.\u201d But, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kristv.com\/news\/local-news\/in-your-neighborhood\/corpus-christi\/southside\/cinergy-delays-45-million-entertainment-center-construction-in-corpus-christi\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">KRIS 6 reported earlier this year<\/a>, the project has been delayed as Cinergy works to redesign parts of it.<\/p>\n<p>Initially,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cinergy.com\/blog-info\/cinergy-entertainment-group-announces-its-11th-location-a-massive-90-000-sq-ft-next-gen-entertainment-destination-in-corpus-christi-texas\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Cinergy announced that the Corpus Christi facility<\/a> would have six dine-in \u201cluxury movie auditoriums,\u201d four fully-immersive escape rooms, 22 bowling lanes, a live sports bar with a \u201cmassive\u201d TV screen above it, more than 100 arcade games, and a \u201cvirtual reality universe,\u201d where guests could play VR games and simulators. But now\u00a0Cinergy is reworking its plans to reduce the number of movie theaters and expand the videogame arcade space.<\/p>\n<p>During September\u2019s ceremony, Benson said the facility would be the company&#8217;s 11th overall. But he also teased a host of expansion possibilities that would require even more land to accomplish.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are already starting work for plans on an additional 40,000 square feet,\u201d Benson said.<\/p>\n<p>Chief among those plans are a 40,000-square-foot, three-story tall \u201cextreme\u00a0karting facility\u201d that would feature a place for spectators to watch as guests zip around two indoor tracks on electric go-karts. The company also hopes to build a \u201cmore adult\u201d minigolf course similar to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/entertainment\/article\/popstroke-san-antonio-19893928.php\" data-link=\"native\" class=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">PopStroke in San Antonio.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not done.
