SAFD says the family did “the smart thing” and closed the door to the room that contained the fire, keeping it localized and smaller for SAFD to attack.<\/p>\n

SAN ANTONIO \u2014 SAFD is currently investigating a fire at a northeast-side apartment complex. They’re also praising the way the family inside reacted to the fire.<\/p>\n

Fire officials were called to the 3900 block of Eisenhauer Road for a structure fire around 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Once there, they found smoke coming out of a window of a unit on the second floor.<\/p>\n

The fire was put out “very quickly,” according to SAFD, and was contained to only one apartment unit.<\/p>\n

No injuries were reported.<\/p>\n

Three people inside, two adults and a child, were trying to put the fire out, fire officials say. SAFD says the trio did “the smart thing” and closed the door to that room that contained the fire, keeping it localized and smaller for SAFD to attack.<\/p>\n

“I thought this family did an excellent job,” SAFD Battalion Chief Garrett Nikolaus said. “They closed that door. They tried to put it out but they couldn’t put it out, they closed the door and saved pretty much the whole building I think.”<\/p>\n

SAFD is still looking into what caused the fire but believe that it was accidental.<\/p>\n
