WACO, Texas \u2013 Baylor softball dropped a 10-1 run-rule decision to Houston on Saturday afternoon in the 700th game played at Getterman Stadium.

\nThe Bears had opportunities but went 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position, while Houston capitalized on Baylor’s defensive miscues, scoring eight runs in the last two frames.
\n\u00a0
\nThe Bears moved to 23-14 overall and 6-6 in Big 12 play, while the Cougars improved to 20-22 and 3-12 in the conference.

\nHouston struck first with a two-run third inning, using a pair of hits, including an RBI double from Makenna Mitchell, to take an early lead.
\n\u00a0
\nBaylor answered in the bottom half, cutting the deficit to 2-1 as Brooklyn Carter<\/a> singled, stole second and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Leah Cran<\/a>.
\n\u00a0
\nThe Cougars broke the game open in the fifth, plating five two-out runs on four hits, extending their lead to 7-1.

\nHouston continued to add on in the sixth, hitting a pair of home runs to push the margin to 10-1 and secure the run-rule victory.

\nGlenn Moore<\/a> on the series finale \u2014 “In a nutshell, I just told them they’ve never quit on me, I’m not going to quit on them. It was a very frustrating weekend. Everything we felt we failed at is fixable, though. We’ve seen pitching much better \u2014 statistically \u2014 than we saw this weekend, and we did better against it. I’m disappointed in that performance there, but I tip my hat to that pitching staff. I don’t want to discredit what they did. We have to certainly go back to work, try to figure out what’s going on. I don’t have the answers to something that. I don’t know that anybody does right now.”

\nMoore on the response he wants from his team\u2014 “I want to get the response that they’re unhappy with this. It’s not just upperclassmen that have to respond now \u2014 You expect it from them, but everybody’s been playing this game long enough to where we’re going to find out how much they hate losing. If they can’t do that themselves, then it’s my job to make them uncomfortable enough until they do. It’s one thing whenever your ability is not getting you there. It’s another thing whenever you’re not playing at a level you’re capable of. They’ve got to have enough pride \u2014 and honestly, I feel like I’m insulting a bunch of girls when I say that \u2014 they have given me their heart and soul to this point. I expect that out of them. I’ll be disappointed if I don’t see that. We’ll find out how they respond.”
