HOUSTON \u2013 Houston police say a 3-year-old boy was transported to a hospital after being brought in to an urgent care center with a gunshot wound.<\/p>\n

The child was brought to the center in the 8500 block of the Gulf Freeway. Officers were called just after 2 p.m.<\/p>\n

Eastside officers are at 8500 Gulf Freeway. There year old male was brought to an urgent care with a gunshot wound. Child was transported to the hospital in critical condition and is expected to survive. Initial reports are this was a negligent discharge. Police say the child was shot in the chest and was taken to a hospital in critical condition. He is now in serious, but stable condition and is expected to survive.<\/p>\n

Police say two adults, believed to be the child\u2019s parents, drove him to the clinic in a private vehicle. They told officers the shooting was an unintentional or negligent discharge, but right now officers don\u2019t know exactly how it happened.<\/p>\n

Officers are searching for the gun involved as well as any possible witnesses.<\/p>\n

Right now, it is unclear whether the child gained access to the gun or if someone else was handling it when the shooting happened.<\/p>\n

This is the second incident in the Houston area Friday where a child has been shot. In Channelview, a 2-year-old is in critical condition after authorities say he received an unintentional gunshot wound.<\/p>\n
