Fort Worth ISD is paying its new state-appointed superintendent a daily rate and relocation costs as he begins leading the district through the state\u2019s intervention, according to his employment agreement.<\/p>\n
The contract for acting Superintendent Peter Licata, developed with input from the Texas Education Agency, outlines the terms of his role as Fort Worth schools transition into a new phase of governance.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Under the agreement, Licata earns $1,384.62 per day while serving as acting superintendent \u2014 a prorated amount based on former Superintendent Karen Molinar\u2019s $360,000 salary<\/a>.<\/p>\n The district is providing a one-time $25,000 payment to cover relocation expenses as Licata, 61, moves to Tarrant County from Broward County, Florida.\u00a0<\/p>\n That payment must cover all moving-related costs, including temporary housing, and Licata is responsible for any taxes tied to the payment, according to the agreement.<\/p>\n Licata began serving in the role March 24, the same day Texas Education Commissioner Mike Morath installed him<\/a> and a board of managers<\/a> to take control of the district.<\/p>\n The new managers approved the agreement during their first meeting on March 31. It states Licata will serve in the acting role until a longer-term superintendent contract is finalized.<\/p>\n Licata is working to obtain his Texas superintendent certification<\/a>, a state requirement for permanently holding the role.<\/p>\n His responsibilities in the meantime mirror those of a traditional superintendent, including overseeing daily operations and complying with directives from the managers and state officials.<\/p>\n Disclosure: The Sid W.
