forecasts had predicted wet weather<\/a>, many families hoped they could squeeze in egg hunts, meals, and reunions before conditions worsened. For some, that meant ending festivities sooner than planned.<\/p>\nAt Lawrence Park, families gathered throughout the day, trying to make the most of their time together before the rain arrived. Jereman Cordova and his family were among those celebrating early.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust celebrating Easter early,\u201d Cordova said. \u201cWe\u2019re celebrating Easter and trying to have a good family reunion.\u201d<\/p>\n
But as rain began falling across parts of the city\u2014including downtown, North Houston, and areas near William P. Hobby Airport\u2014families started packing up.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re getting ready to pack it up,\u201d one family member said.<\/p>\n
For Anita Mendoza and her family, the weather brought a quick change of plans. Their pre-Easter gathering continued until the rain became unavoidable.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe did get rain earlier, and we are going to expect some bad weather tomorrow,\u201d Mendoza said.<\/p>\n
With more rain potentially in the forecast for Easter Sunday, many families are already preparing alternatives\u2014especially for younger children eager for egg hunts.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have two grandchildren, so they\u2019re probably going to hide eggs around the house,\u201d Mendoza added.<\/p>\n
For kids, the shift indoors may not be a disappointment at all. In fact, some say it adds a new level of excitement.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m kind of excited,\u201d one child said. \u201cMy mom\u2019s probably going to hide them everywhere\u2014in funny places like the dog cages, behind the TV, or on the couches.\u201d<\/p>\n
Despite the disruption, families say the spirit of Easter remains unchanged.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe might get a thunderstorm, and then we might not even get anything,\u201d Mendoza said. \u201cBecause Houston\u2014you can have it on one side of town, and on the other side, it\u2019s sunny. It all depends.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even with outdoor traditions on hold, many say the most important part of the holiday hasn\u2019t changed: spending time together.<\/p>\n
