A strong cold front\u00a0pushed through the region on Saturday,<\/a> bringing scattered thunderstorms, colder temperatures and gusty winds throughout South Texas.<\/p>\n

Heading into Easter Sunday, the storm system is likely to bring a few lingering rain showers into South Texas, along with well below-average temperatures.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, though, Easter won’t be a complete washout. In fact, recent weather model data shows that Easter Sunday is trending much drier than previously expected. Additionally, there is\u00a0no chance of any strong thunderstorms<\/a>, as the cooler air in place will keep the atmosphere relatively stable. Here’s a close look at what you can expect.<\/p>\n

Easter Sunday forecast timeline<\/p>\n

Morning (5 to 10 a.m.): If you’re heading out early to go to a church service, it won;t be a bad idea to bring an umbrella along, just in case. A few isolated light showers are possible around South Texas, with about a 30% chance of rain in San Antonio.<\/a> Rainfall, if any, will stay very light.<\/p>\n

While rainfall isn’t guaranteed, temperatures will be rather chilly throughout the region. Expect morning lows to hover in the mid-50s, only rising a few degrees by 10 a.m.. Winds will also be quite breezy, blowing in from the north at around 15 to 20 mph with periodic gusts up to 30 mph possible,<\/p>\n

Midday (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.): Scattered, on-and-off light rain showers will be possible into the mid-afternoon, but still with only a 20 to 30% chance of rain in the San Antonio metro area. While conditions still may be damp from Saturday’s rainfall, Easter egg hunts should go on without any major problems.<\/p>\n

Temperatures will rise slightly, reaching the low 60s by noon before topping out in the upper 60s by late afternoon. This will likely go down as the coolest Easter Sunday in San Antonio since 2007.<\/p>\n

Evening (4 to 10 p.m.): Rain chances will continue to decrease during this time, with less than a 20% chance of a few lingering showers throughout the region. Winds will lighten, decreasing to less than 10 mph after 7\u00a0p.m. Temperatures will continue to sit in the 60s through much of the evening, only falling back into the 50s by 10 p.m.<\/p>\n

How much rain? Since showers are expected to stay rather light throughout the day, rainfall totals are expected to stay quite low<\/a>. Most areas will pick less than a tenth of an inch of rain.<\/p>\n

The upcoming week<\/p>\n

Cool temperatures are expected to continue for the first couple days of the work week. On Monday, morning lows in the mid-50s will rise only into the low 70s by the afternoon. A few isolated showers are also possible, but rain chances are only expected to be near 20%.<\/p>\n

Tuesday will bring similar weather as highs once again top out in the low 70s. Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy, but rain is not expected. Winds will be light, coming in from the east at 5-10 mph.<\/p>\n

Temperatures will finally warm more significantly by the second half of the week. San Antonio high temps are expected to reach the upper 70s on Wednesday, rising into the low 80s by Thursday and Friday. A few scattered showers and storms are also possible toward the end of the week, with rain chances around 20%.<\/p>\n
