The McNairs are friends with country music singer Parker McCollum<\/a>, a Conroe native and avid Texans fan. McCollum is frequently spotted at NRG Stadium during Sundays in the fall, and he joined the McNairs for their trip to Pittsburgh to start the playoffs. When the Texans then traveled to New England, McCollum was nowhere to be found. Coincidence? Not quite, per Hannah, who teased McCollum for abandoning his perch as the Texans’ good luck charm.<\/p>\n

“I blame Parker McCollum for not coming to New England, because he was at the Steelers game,” McNair told KPRC 2’s Aaron Wilson at the NFL’s annual league meeting in Phoenix. “I told him that when we saw him at the [Houston Livestock Show and] Rodeo. I said, ‘you know you\u2019re the reason that we lost that game.’<\/p>\n

“So hopefully he comes to all of our playoff games next year.”<\/p>\n

McCollum quickly took note of the aired grievance on Saturday. He then offered a much-deserved apology for his absence.<\/p>\n

Some might scoff at Hannah’s\u00a0theory, instead choosing to place the blame for Houston’s playoff exit on quarterback C.J. Stroud\u2014who threw four interceptions<\/a> in the loss at New England\u2014or his injured supporting cast. But real ball knowers understand the impact of the mystical in the NFL playoffs. A celebrity fan can alter a postseason with the\u00a0right outfit<\/a>. A voodoo doll<\/a> can determine the outcome of a Super Bowl. Former New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning likes to call himself not superstitious, but instead, “a little ‘stitious<\/a>.” Aren’t we all?<\/p>\n

When the pressure of the playoffs arise, those on the field need all the help they can get. Let’s hope McCollum realizes that next winter, when he should pause his entire calendar to follow the Texans as they chase the first Super Bowl in franchise history.
