1.\u00a0Restaurants, food distributers continue to navigate high fuel costs<\/a><\/p>\n

Gas prices are continuing to rise at the pump across the state.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Amongst normal drivers commuting to and from work, businesses that utilize diesel-run semi-trucks are feeling the impact by thousands of dollars.<\/p>\n

\u201cA truck that was, last week, I was paying $4,200 for it from the northwest,\u201d said Nando Gonzalez, a partner at River City Produce in San Antonio. \u201cIt\u2019s almost $7,000 this week.\u201d<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Texas fertility clinics see increase in younger women freezing their eggs<\/a><\/p>\n

The\u00a0first birth<\/a>\u00a0from frozen eggs was in 1986 and thanks to continued advancements, egg preservation is becoming an increasingly popular option for family planning. According to a 2025 study by the University of California, Los Angeles, elective egg freezing cycles\u00a0nearly quadrupled<\/a>\u00a0from 2014 to 2021, especially among younger women.<\/p>\n

In 2022, the CCRM Fertility clinic in Houston had 71 patients under 35 freeze their eggs. In 2024, it jumped to 93 patients, a 31% increase in younger age egg freezing at the clinic.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Texas businesses await tariff refunds after Supreme Court ruling<\/a><\/p>\n

President Donald Trump called it \u201cLiberation Day\u201d a year ago on April 2, 2025, as he ordered massive increases in tariffs for almost everything imported into the U.S. Those tariffs were used as an ongoing administration diplomatic tool, with some rolled back and some hiked up higher through the year.<\/p>\n

Then, in February 2026, the Supreme Court ruled\u00a0that the president doesn\u2019t have the authority to tax some of those imports, and the court required the administration to issue refunds. Now, businesses in Texas are awaiting those checks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
