Both Geisels\u00f6der and Jones were reserved free agents for the Wings. Geisels\u00f6der was selected in the first round of the Expansion Draft by Portland, while Jones was selected in the second round. Dallas Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Curt Miller expressed his disappointment at losing the players but wished them the best as they move onto Portland. The Wings hold the No. 1 pick for the second consecutive year in the upcoming WNBA Draft 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Dallas Wings center Luisa Geisels\u00f6der and guard\/forward Haley Jones were selected by the Portland Fire in Friday\u2019s WNBA Expansion Draft 2026 presented by State Street Investment Management SPY. Both Geisels\u00f6der and Jones were reserved free agents for the Wings, with Portland acquiring their exclusive negotiating rights in the Expansion Draft.<\/p>\n<p>Geisels\u00f6der, who was picked in the first round of the Expansion Draft by Portland, was originally selected with the 21st pick by the Dallas Wings in the 2020 WNBA Draft but remained in Europe. Last year, the Germany native signed a training camp contract with the Wings, making her WNBA debut during the 2025 season. Geisels\u00f6der appeared in 28 games for Dallas, averaging 6.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per contest. She missed the Wings\u2019 final five contests in 2025 due to a shoulder injury. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"683\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/DSC_6895.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-145468\"  \/>Photo by @itsdarah<\/p>\n<p>Selected in the second round of the Expansion Draft by the Fire, Jones first joined the Wings on a hardship contract in June 2025, prior to signing a rest-of-season contract with the team on July 9. She appeared in 24 games for Dallas, started in 16 and averaged career bests of 8.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 0.8 steals per contest. Jones recorded a season-high 18 points on September 4 at the Golden State Valkyries and tallied a career-high 10 rebounds on August 24 against the Seattle Storm. The 6-1 guard-forward out of Stanford also recorded four consecutive games with 10+ points for the first time in her career (7\/16 at Las Vegas, 7\/22 at Seattle and 7\/25 at Golden State and 7\/27 vs. Las Vegas).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Expansion Draft is always a tough day for organizations,\u201d said Dallas Wings Executive Vice President and General Manager Curt Miller. \u201cWhile planning has been in place for months, the reality of losing players that you value and believe in is always difficult.
