LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock native\u2019s passion for reading can now be seen in parking lots across the city.<\/p>\n
Angela Brink, who also owns her own decorating business, took her trailer and converted it into a mobile bookstore for adults to enjoy.<\/p>\n
From struggle to passion<\/p>\n
Being a mother of four and owning a business means life is busy for Brink, but that doesn\u2019t stop her from pursuing her passions.<\/p>\n
In elementary school, Brink struggled with reading, but once she figured it out, a new love was found. That love has continued into adulthood.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhenever stressful times come around, it\u2019s like you can escape into a book for a bit and all of my friends read, and so we would trade books and talk about them,\u201d Brink said.<\/p>\n
Thinking outside the box<\/p>\n
That camaraderie between friends was something Brink enjoyed, but she describes herself as a mood reader and didn\u2019t want to be confined to a monthly book club selection.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s also always wanted to open up her own brick and mortar bookstore, but that option isn\u2019t feasible for her at the moment. This got Brink thinking outside of the box.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy husband said you know we have this trailer just sitting around in storage, why don\u2019t you convert that?\u201d Brink said.<\/p>\n
That\u2019s how Meet Me in the Stacks was born.<\/p>\n
Variety of genres<\/p>\n
The mobile bookstore features light-hearted love stories to romance and fantasy, to even thriller and horror, giving readers the chance to engage with a form of media in a unique environment.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re almost becoming a different person. You get to live in a different world, there can be multiple series. There are some that are seven books long and you\u2019re so invested,\u201d Brink said.<\/p>\n
Brink will be making her way around Lubbock to sell books from her mobile bookstore. The hope is to expand the trailer\u2019s capabilities and offer more options to those who are interested.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou see me, you stop and you say \u2018oh, I\u2019ve been looking for this book\u2019 and being able to give that to people,\u201d Brink said.<\/p>\n
Brink said nothing has given her more joy than getting to talk to customers about their love of books.<\/p>\n
