UNIQLO\u2019s UNtrash It initiative, developed in partnership with Piece of Cake Moving and Storage and WM, is designed to give unwanted clothing a second life, without sending it to a landfill.<\/p>\n
The program builds on UNIQLO<\/a>\u2019s long-running RE.UNIQLO<\/a> initiative, and is now available in Dallas, alongside New York and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n Why This Program Exists<\/p>\n Clothing waste continues to be a growing issue, not necessarily because people don\u2019t want to donate, but because the process is often inconvenient.<\/p>\n During moments like moving or decluttering, large amounts of clothing are often discarded simply because there isn\u2019t an easy alternative. UNtrash It is designed to meet that exact moment, offering a built-in solution when people are already sorting through what to keep and what to let go.<\/p>\n For Dallas residents planning a move, the program is integrated directly into the process. Customers who book with Piece of Cake Moving can set aside unwanted clothing in designated bags, which are then collected alongside their move. From there, items are routed through UNIQLO\u2019s RE.UNIQLO system, where they are sorted for donation or recycling.<\/p>\n Wearable items are directed to organizations that can reuse them, while damaged or unwearable pieces are processed through WM\u2019s textile sorting infrastructure, helping divert materials from landfills.<\/p>\n Not Moving? There\u2019s Still An Option<\/p>\n The program isn\u2019t limited to relocations. Anyone can drop off clothing at UNIQLO stores using RE.UNIQLO collection bins. Items are sorted into those that can be reused and those that can be recycled into new materials, offering a year-round alternative to throwing clothing away.<\/p>\n As part of the program\u2019s expansion, UNIQLO, Piece of Cake and WM are fully funding UNtrash It during Earth Month, making participation free for consumers.<\/p>\n The goal is to remove cost and convenience barriers at the same time, two of the biggest reasons clothing ends up in landfills.<\/p>\n The Bigger Shift Behind It<\/p>\n
