Quail Run Park<\/p>\n<p>Quail Run Park will see a new playground and shade structure.<\/p>\n<p>Allen City Council approved spending $399,347 with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webuildfun.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">WeBuildFun<\/a> Inc. for Quail Run Park improvements at a January meeting. Funding comes from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofallen.org\/departments\/community_development\/index.php\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Allen Community Development Corp.<\/a>, per city documents.<\/p>\n<p>The renovation process includes demolition of the existing playground, grading, a new drainage system, subsurface establishment, playground design and installation.<\/p>\n<p>The typical lifespan of public playground equipment ranges from 15-20 years, per city documents. The playground at Quail Run Park was installed in 2005.<\/p>\n<p>2. Ford Park<\/p>\n<p>Allen\u2019s Ford Park renovation project will now include an additional playground.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/tpwd.texas.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Texas Parks and Wildlife<\/a> awarded a $750,000 grant to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeinallen.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Allen Parks and Recreation Department<\/a> in January. The city plans to use this money to add a playground to the north section of Ford Park, Director of Parks and Recreation Kate Meacham said.<\/p>\n<p>Voters approved $17 million in bond funding to improve Ford Park in 2023. The 50-acre park is one of Allen\u2019s oldest and is currently split into four segments, Meacham said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith this project, we&#8217;re going to be trying to bring all four components together in one unified park,\u201d Meacham said.<\/p>\n<p>The planned improvements include pickleball courts, updated sports fields, expanded trails, a youth activity zone and playpods.<\/p>\n<p>City staff wanted to add a park to the north section, but there was no room in the existing budget, Meacham said. The additional funding will also help with trail connectivity and a potential pavilion at the site.<\/p>\n<p>3. Bradford Crossing Park<\/p>\n<p>Allen City Council approved spending $600,000 with WeBuildFun Inc. for a new playground and shade structure at a January meeting.
