The Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney\u2019s Office filed a charge of driving while intoxicated on Wednesday, April 8, against Fort Worth City Council member Michael Crain related to his January arrest<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Crain was driving a Volkswagen on Chisholm Trail Parkway in Fort Worth on Jan. 16 when a DPS trooper patrolling the area observed a traffic violation and stopped him about 10:20 p.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.<\/p>\n

The trooper suspected that Crain was driving while intoxicated. He was arrested at that time on suspicion of DWI,<\/a> booked at the Tarrant County Jail on Jan. 17, and released on bond, according to DPS.<\/p>\n

The initial DPS statement did not specify what the traffic violation was or what tests for intoxication were conducted.<\/p>\n

The charge that was filed by prosecutors three months after the arrest is a Class B misdemeanor, according to court records.<\/p>\n

Crain, 53, is serving his third term on the council representing District 3. He was sworn in for his first two-year term in May 2021.<\/p>\n

In a statement after his arrest, Crain apologized for the \u201cdistraction\u201d the incident caused for his family, Fort Worth residents and colleagues. \u201cI regret the concern and uncertainty it has created for the people I care about and serve,\u201d Crain said.<\/p>\n

Crain declined to comment Wednesday when reached by the Star-Telegram.<\/p>\n

His district covers parts of far west and southwest Fort Worth, including the area around Texas Christian University.<\/p>\n
