By sunrise, officers had been dispatched to six homes, most of them north of I-10, where front doors had been kicked, leaving visible damage.

Police say the homes appeared to be targeted at random, but the cases are connected.

The activity is being linked to what’s known online as the “door kick challenge,” a trend circulating on social media platforms in which individuals attempt to kick in residential doors. Authorities say what may be portrayed online as a prank carries serious risks.

“This behavior, sometimes referred to on social media as the ‘TikTok door kick challenge,’ is not a harmless trend but a criminal offense,” the Seguin Police Department said in a news release, noting that homeowners may respond in self-defense, creating potentially dangerous situations. “What may be portrayed as an online prank can have serious and dangerous consequences. Attempting to force entry into a home can put both the residents and the individuals involved at significant risk.

In an update released Tuesday, April 7, police said no additional incidents have been reported since that morning, but the investigation quickly led to the identification of four suspects. All are male juveniles between the ages of 14 and 15.

Criminal charges may be pursued as the investigation continues. Detectives estimate the six incidents caused approximately $3,500 in total property damage. The case highlights growing concerns among law enforcement about social media-driven behavior crossing into criminal activity, particularly among younger teens.

Police are urging residents to remain vigilant, secure doors and windows and report suspicious activity. They also emphasized the role of parents, encouraging conversations about the real-world consequences of online trends.

“Trends like this can result in criminal charges, place lives at risk, and have lasting consequences. These conversations are critical in helping prevent situations like this from occurring,” the department said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Seguin Police Department at (830) 379-2123 or submit an anonymous tip through Guadalupe County Crime Stoppers or the P3 Tips app.

A viral social media trend that has raised concerns nationwide has now surfaced in a San Antonio-area suburb,…

[8
1113,847,820,82,84,83
0":"post-241454","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-san-antonio","8":"tag-mysahillcountry","9":"tag-mysanews","10":"tag-mysastaff","11":"tag-san-antonio","12":"tag-san-antonio-headlines","13":"tag-san-antonio-news
["GET
