Here’s when.

Through the first half of this week, dry air has resulted in bright sunshine, pleasant temperatures, and near-zero rain chances across South Texas. On Thursday, however, southerly winds will strengthen and deliver more atmospheric moisture into the region.

This will trigger a few other changes: First, you’ll likely notice higher humidity returning throughout the day. More clouds are also expected, along with scattered thunderstorms in the San Antonio area by the second half of the day. Here’s a breakdown of what else you can expect.

First, a few light showers across South Texas are possible early Thursday, mainly between 6 and 10 a.m. The showers will likely be sporadic, keeping overall effects to a minimum. San Antonio’s rain chances during this time will be around 20%.

Skies are expected to clear up some but they will likely stay partly cloudy as atmospheric moisture continues to move in. San Antonio temperatures are likely to be in the mid-70s at noon and reach the lower 80s by the afternoon.

San Antonio’s best chance of rain Thursday will occur from the late afternoon through the evening, especially between 5 and 9 p.m. During this time, pop-up thunderstorms are expected to form across the Hill Country and the Interstate 35 corridor. As indicated by the spotty nature of these storms, rain chances will be only around 30%, so not everyone will see rain.

These storms are not expected to be severe, but a few could still produce wind gusts of up to 40 mph. Brief downpours are also possible, but rainfall totals will stay rather low for most of South Texas.

A very similar forecast is expected on Friday, but as moisture levels rise, so will rain chances. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will peak again during the late afternoon and evening, this time at around a 50% chance in San Antonio. Temperatures will also stay warm, with morning temps in the mid-60s transitioning into the lower 80s by the afternoon.

Yet another round of scattered showers and storms will be possible Saturday afternoon and evening. Then by late Saturday night, storms are likely to form into a line across parts of West Texas before moving eastward.

As storms move east, San Antonio’s highest chance of strong to severe storms is likely overnight Saturday and into parts of Sunday. Some storms could result in hail, damaging winds, and even a small, isolated tornado threat. However, the exact timing and severity of these storms is still uncertain, so stay updated for daily forecast updates.

Daily chances of scattered showers and storms are likely to continue into next week, as well. However, it’s important to note that this weather pattern is not expected to bring any all-day rainfall events. Rather, expect long periods of dry weather interrupted by short bursts of rainfall.

During this time, temperatures will stay consistent. Afternoons will likely be in the lower 80s each day, while mornings will be in the middle to upper 60s.

Through the first half of this week, dry air has resulted in bright sunshine, pleasant temperatures, and near-zero…

[6
27,29,28
0":"post-241753","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-texas","8":"tag-texas","9":"tag-texas-headlines","10":"tag-texas-news
["GET
