Calallen<\/a> entered their tilt with Zapata<\/a> on Thursday with nine consecutive wins but they’ll enter their next game with ten. They blew past the Hawks 19-2. Considering the Wildcats have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday’s blowout was nothing new.<\/p>\n Calallen got a great performance from Collier Carroll<\/a> as he struck out 12 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and only one walk). Carroll has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn’t given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.<\/p>\n On the hitting side, Reese Rusher<\/a> was a standout: he went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That’s the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Drayson Gamez<\/a>, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.<\/p>\n Calallen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zapata only posted an OBP of .360.<\/p>\n Calallen’s record now sits at 22-2. As for Zapata, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-10-1.<\/p>\n Calallen wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-0 win against Robstown on the 7th. As for Zapata, they have also already played their next matchup, a 4-1 loss against Tuloso-Midway on the 7th.<\/p>\n
