DALLAS \u2014 Dallas City Council has removed Cesar Chavez Day from the city calendar, voting to replace it with a day honoring Dolores Huerta instead.<\/p>\n

The council voted on Wednesday to designate Huerta\u2019s birthday, April 10, as Dolores Huerta Day. Huerta is known for her work as a labor rights leader, having co-founded the United Farm Workers with C\u00e9sar Ch\u00e1vez.<\/p>\n

Huerta released a statement<\/a> in March accusing Ch\u00e1vez of sexual abuse, following an investigation by the New York Times. Ch\u00e1vez has faced national scrutiny after he was accused of sexual abuse and grooming of young women and girls in the farmworker movement.<\/p>\n

In a March statement<\/a>, Gov.
