At the time, Lupita Adams, owner of Purr-fecto Cat Lounge, told MySA it would likely open by December or early this year.

However, construction is taking a little longer than expected, the business wrote in its post. The cat cafe is now aiming for an August or September opening. While the business spilled the tea on the location area, it did not include an address.

“Trust us — we’d rather take a little longer and get it purrfect than rush it and have the cats judging us,” the cat lounge stated.

The new 3,000-square-foot cat lounge in San Antonio will be able to accommodate more cats and people than its Austin location, Adams previously told MySA. While the Austin location limits capacity to 20 people and about 20 cats, the Alamo City spot will be able to house 40 people at once and around 30 cats.

In addition to the cuddles, there will be a coffee shop, wine bar and gift shop, Adams said in September 2026. In Austin, Adams offers coffee and Boba. However, it’s run through her coffee truck in the area. In the Instagram post, the business said it’s teaming up with San Antonio bakeries, cookie spots and bagel legends for its spot.

Purr-fecto Cat Lounge employs a vet technician to check the cats routinely for ringworms or any sickness, Adams said. The lounge also has a groomer who attends to the facility’s cats. On top of that, Adams said she runs a well-kept, well-organized lounge to ensure the cats are cared for throughout the day. When closed, the cats roam free inside the routinely cleaned space, Adams said, calling the lounge “their home.”

It’s been over seven years since San Antonio has had a permanent cat café. The first-ever San Antonio Cat Café opened in 2017 but was shuttered the following year amid controversy. The location was temporarily closed in April 2018 after Animal Care Services investigators discovered cats without rabies shots and with health issues. The concerns were addressed, and the café reopened. However, the former owner permanently closed the shop due to disagreements with their new property owners.

Below are photos of the Austin location of Purr-fecto Cat Lounge

The much-anticipated update comes after Purr-fecto Cat Lounge teased its Alamo City expansion plans in August 2026.
