Change is coming to Sachse as the city prepares to update its electronic infrastructure and review its agreement with the company that provides emergency communications services, City Council learned Monday evening.<\/p>\n
The goal, according to Police Chief Bryan Sylvester, is to maintain the city\u2019s top-tier communications system at the most affordable cost possible.<\/p>\n
Sachse currently has an agreement with Motorola to provide police, fire and medical emergency communications. The agreement expires in 2028, and Sylvester told council members the best option would be to spend $490,000 to replace the current system.<\/p>\n
The city now pays about $29,000 annually to maintain the system, Sylvester said, adding that \u201clike everything, those costs are going up.\u201d He projects maintenance costs could increase about 15% annually when the current agreement expires, reaching roughly $51,000 per year. an agreement with Motorola to provide police, fire and medical emergency communications.
