Garland ISD trustees moved through a full agenda Tuesday, March 31, approving policy revisions, advancing district business and recognizing student achievements.<\/p>\n
Proceedings began with recognitions for multiple student accomplishments in state and national competitions, including Girls Powerlifting four-time state champion A\u2019Ja Bostic, nine district seniors named 2026 National Merit finalists and 21 students who qualified for the Texas Music Educators Association All-State Band and Choir.<\/p>\n
The board also introduced new district administrators, including Kishawna Wiggins as director of human resources for elementary campuses and Ray Winkler as executive director of special education and related services.<\/p>\n
Trustees later received a briefing on the March 2026 Intruder Detection Audit Report. Mark Quin, director of security for Garland ISD, said specific details would not be publicly disclosed to avoid compromising campus safety.<\/p>\n
Following the briefing, trustees moved to the trustees\u2019 and superintendent\u2019s reports, which highlighted attendance at community events, new programs and participation in events across the district and beyond, including a TASB governance camp in Galveston, the Music for All Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana, and the Middle School Cheer Classic competition in Rowlett.<\/p>\n
