(KKTV) &#8211; A man in El Paso County was sentenced to life in prison in a child sexual assault case. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The El Paso County Sheriff\u2019s Office said 63-year-old Richard Vasquez was arrested in October 2025 for sexual assault on a child. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Deputies said the case began on July 25, 2025, when a Department of Human Services representative accused him of sexual assault involving a child. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Deputies then began an investigation into Vasquez. They said detectives determined that he had access to multiple children in the Pikes Peak region and learned he had ties to Tularosa, New Mexico. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kktv.com\/2025\/10\/24\/el-paso-county-deputies-searching-additional-victims-child-sexploitation-investigation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.kktv.com\/2025\/10\/24\/el-paso-county-deputies-searching-additional-victims-child-sexploitation-investigation\/\">On October 25, 2025,<\/a> Vasquez was arrested for Sexual Exploitation of a Child, Sexual Assault of a Child, Unlawful Sexual Contact, and Sexual Assault on a Child by One in a Position of Trust. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">At a trial, EPSO said the judge declared Vasquez a sexually violent predator and sentenced him to life in prison. The judge said he would be eligible for parole after 16 years, followed by 20 years of mandatory parole. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to EPSO, Vasquez also had a prior conviction in 1987 for sexually assaulting another child. <\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KKTV.
