The City Council approved a Utility Customer Assistance Program\u2014a six-month pilot program\u2014on April 7.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s happening?<\/p>\n<p>The UCAP provides active residential city of Kyle utility customers with targeted, temporary financial support for essential water, wastewater, solid waste and storm drainage services, <a href=\"https:\/\/d3n9y02raazwpg.cloudfront.net\/cityofkyletx\/e4ba72ed-a3be-11f0-8df7-005056a89546-e5297e2a-112a-4e2a-bfc1-1e9c3530d3f0-1775084315.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to agenda documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The program functions as a safety net for residents and is not a citywide rate-reduction program. UCAP assistance is applied as capped bill credits rather than uncapped bill forgiveness.<\/p>\n<p>During the program\u2019s pilot phase, staff will report updates to the council and gather feedback from customers and recipients. The feedback will help shape any potential longer-term continuation of the program.<\/p>\n<p>The details<\/p>\n<p>The total amount of funds for the pilot program is capped at $30,000, with any desired increase requiring council approval. UCAP will be funded by the city\u2019s Water and Wastewater Fund.<\/p>\n<p>Residents must meet city-established eligibility requirements, <a href=\"https:\/\/granicus_production_attachments.s3.amazonaws.com\/cityofkyletx\/3b57f24d6ee5304c35ff10e1786b00860.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">according to agenda documents<\/a>, including:<\/p>\n<p>Being an active residential city of Kyle utility customerBeing the primary account holder on the utility accountMust submit a hardship applicationNo household that qualifies for UCAP financial assistance may receive more than $600 total within a calendar year.
