SPLENDORA, Texas – A Texas teacher is facing charges, accused of making up an attack that prompted a school lockdown.<\/p>\n
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the incident happened around 8:45 a.m. Thursday at Splendora High School when 53-year-old Nicole Truelove activated a school-issued panic alarm.<\/p>\n
The move triggered an immediate lockdown, with three school resource officers already on campus taking action as law enforcement responded. Officials say roughly 100 personnel from multiple agencies arrived to secure the school and ensure the safety of students and staff.<\/p>\n
Initially, authorities were told a student had attacked Truelove. However, investigators with the Criminal Investigation Division reviewed surveillance video, interviewed witnesses, and collected evidence, ultimately determining no assault had occurred.<\/p>\n
The sheriff\u2019s office says Truelove\u2019s injury was self-inflicted with a razor blade and that the incident was a hoax.<\/p>\n
“The sheriff’s office takes all these law enforcement matters seriously when it relates to schools, and we hold adults just as much as we hold children responsible for calling in fake threats to schools,” said Rick Bass, Montgomery County Sheriff\u2019s Office Asst. Chief of Operations.<\/p>\n
Truelove, who has been employed with Splendora Independent School District for about a year, was taken to the Montgomery County Jail. She is charged with felony tampering with evidence and making a false report or false alarm.<\/p>\n
