UT has now made 15 appearances in the final AP poll and 16 appearances in the final USA TODAY Sports Coaches poll.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; This marked UT&#8217;s sixth-consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament (2021-22-23-24-25-26). It is the longest streak by the Longhorns since they made 14-straight NCAA tourney appearances from 1999-2012. Texas has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 24 of the last 27 seasons. UT is one of seven schools to appear in 24 of the last 27 NCAA tourneys. Texas has advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 32 of the last 37 seasons. UT is one of six schools to appear in at least 32 of the last 37 NCAA tourneys.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Texas earned a No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament.\u00a0With Texas&#8217; win over Gonzaga in the Round of 32, the Longhorns made their 15th all-time appearance in the NCAA Sweet 16 and first since the 2023 season. Texas became just the sixth team in NCAA Tournament history to advance from the First Four to the Sweet 16.\u00a0This marked the first time since 1997 that UT advanced to the Round of 16 as a No. 8 seed or lower (Texas is a No. 11 seed). The Longhorns advanced to the Sweet 16 as a No. 10 seed in 1997, defeating No. 7 Wisconsin and No. 15 seed Coppin State. Texas recorded its 11th NCAA Tournament victory as a double-digit seed with the win over Gonzaga. The 11 wins are the most by any program since seeding began in 1979.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; During UT&#8217;s four NCAA Tournament contests, the Longhorns limited their opponents to an average of 71.0 points per game while allowing 43.9-percent from the floor, including a 24.3-percent (18-74) mark from three-point range. Texas was excellent in ball security during the NCAA Tournament, as the Horns averaged just 8.3 turnovers per game and boasted a 54-to-33 assist-to-turnover ratio in the four contests.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; Head Coach Sean Miller has advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 a total of nine times in his 21 seasons as a collegiate head coach (three times at Xavier, five times at Arizona and once at Texas). Miller is 25-14 (.641) overall in 14 NCAA Tournament appearances. He ranks ninth in most career NCAA Tournament wins (25) by active Division I coaches. Per StatsPerform, Miller ranks in a tie for fifth for most Sweet 16 appearances by active Division I coaches over the last 22 seasons (since his first year at Xavier in 2004-05) and seventh for most Elite 8 appearances by active Division I coaches in the same time span.\u00a0Miller improved to 9-1 all-time in the NCAA Round of 32 and has won his past nine Second-Round games with this year&#8217;s victory over Gonzaga. His only defeat in the Round of 32 came in 2007 while at Xavier. Miller&#8217;s winning percentage (.900) in the Round of 32 is the best by ANY coach since the tournament expanded to 32 teams in 1975 (min. 10 games), ahead of Mike Krzyzewski (26-6, .812) and Bob Knight (14-4, .778).<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#8211; In Coach Miller&#8217;s first season in Austin, the Longhorns averaged 82.8 points per game while converting 48.4-percent from the floor. The 82.8 ppg marks the highest scoring average for Texas since the 1994-95 squad averaged 92.9 ppg and also is the first time the Longhorns have averaged at least 80 ppg since the 2009-10 season (81.2 ppg). UT&#8217;s 48.4-percent FG shooting marks the highest FG percentage since the 1988-89 team hit 48.7-percent. The last Texas team to shoot at least 48-percent from the floor during a full season was in 1994-95 (48.0). According to KenPom, UT ranked\u00a013th nationally in offensive efficiency (124.9).
