A Walmart Supercenter in Southwest Arlington sold a winning Powerball ticket worth $1 million.<\/p>\n
An Everman resident claimed the Powerball prize for the drawing on March 14 after purchasing the ticket at Walmart Supercenter at 4800 Highway 287 in Arlington.<\/p>\n
The winning Quick Pick ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn (9-30-42-50-52), but not the red Powerball number (21).<\/p>\n
The claimant elected to remain anonymous.<\/p>\n
The Texas Lottery is required to withhold federal taxes of 24% for prizes over $5,000. A $1 million prize would push the winner into the highest income tax bracket, and they’d likely owe an additional 13% to the federal government. Texas does not tax lottery winnings, so after paying 37% in federal taxes, the winner would have about $630,000 left over.<\/p>\n
