When in Central Texas for his highly anticipated shows, the King of Country<\/a> made it a point to film a new music video with local law enforcement. George Strait<\/a> filmed a new music video with the Austin Police Department while visiting Texas’ capital city this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“The APD would like to extend a sincere thank you to George Strait for inviting our officers to be featured in his ‘Weight of the Badge’ video highlights,” APD wrote on Facebook. “Keep an eye out for some familiar faces during his performances in Austin.”<\/p>\n

Strait performed at the Moody Center on Thursday, April 9, and will take the same stage again this Saturday, April 11. So, he seemingly killed two birds with one stone, seeing as his team was filming his new music video while in Austin for shows.<\/p>\n

Strait released “The Weight of the Badge” as a tribute to the sacrifice, dedication and emotional strain experienced by first responders and their families. In 2021, he\u00a0released a video for the EP<\/a>, highlighting the stories of first responders and their families across the U.S. to give ” some insight on what it means to live every day bearing the weight of the badge.”<\/p>\n

While the initial video did feature some Texas officers from Tarrant County, Glenn Heights and Dallas, the Austin Police Department was not part of it. But now, it seems Strait could be cooking up some fresh new visuals featuring Austin police officers. It’s unclear if the video APD officers are reportedly\u00a0part of will play at\u00a0Strait’s final Austin show on Saturday.<\/p>\n

After wrapping his Capital City stop, Strait will perform in Lubbock on April 24 and April 25. He’ll then play one show in\u00a0Clemson, South Carolina, in early May. If you missed the King of Country in Austin in April, fret not: he’ll return to the Moody Center on May 15 and May 16.\u00a0<\/p>\n
