Just after 1\u00a0p.m. on Friday, April 10, event organizers said the festivities are proceeding as planned, with the potential of a slightly earlier finish time on Saturday to be determined at a later point to ensure the safety of attendees amid a rainy forecast.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;ABC Kite Fest will proceed as planned! Event heads said they are in close contact with the city of Austin and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration forecasters, and will make a final determination on an earlier event finish time \u2014 possibly at 3\u00a0p.m. \u2014 by 12 p.m. on Saturday. Further updates will be shared on ABC Kite Fest&#8217;s social media pages, and guests are encouraged to dress for rainy weather.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, April 12, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cap10k.com\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">49th annual Statesman Cap10K<\/a> returns to the Texas capital, with Texas&#8217; largest 10K slated to kick things off at 8 a.m. The annual tradition welcomed 24,169 participants last year, a stark uptick from the 19,590 runners, joggers and walkers in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>As of Friday afternoon, the race is revving full steam ahead, with the Cap10K race expo opening to the public at 12\u00a0p.m. Race organizers did similarly note that any updates to the event will be shared throughout the weekend on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/statesmancap10k\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">social media platforms<\/a>, adding it&#8217;s a rain or shine event.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service&#8217;s Austin and San Antonio offices outlined their detailed weekend forecast, which noted a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 10 a.m. on Saturday and a 50% chance of precipitation.
