Kyle Flood secured another offensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class with the Friday commitment of Columbus standout Keyon Hemphill-Woods in a ceremony at his high school.<\/p>\n
The 6\u20193, 275-pounder chose Texas over finalists Auburn, TCU, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech, going public with a silent commitment he\u2019d recently made to the Longhorns staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cI chose Texas because there\u2019s no other place like it,\u201d Hemphill-Woods said. \u201cThe coaches there are the best you can ask for. I have been wanting to go to Texas since I was a kid so when I was blessed to have an opportunity to play there I was super grateful. I didn\u2019t want to wait any longer.\u201d<\/p>\n
It was a whirlwind recruitment for Texas and the consensus three-star prospect who picked up his offer from Flood on a visit to the Forty Acres last month. Other offers included Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, Cal, Colorado, Florida, Houston, Illinois, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Rutgers, Tennessee, UCLA, Vanderbilt, and Wisconsin, among others.<\/p>\n
Hemphill-Woods will take his official visit to Texas on June 5.<\/p>\n
A left tackle and defensive lineman for the 3A D-I state champion Columbus squad, Hemphill-Woods also competes in the discus and shot put for his high school, and projects as an interior offensive lineman for the Horns.<\/p>\n
