MORGANTOWN, W. Va. \u00a0\u2014 The #36 University of Houston Tennis team opened its final weekend of regular season play with a 4-0 sweep of West Virginia on Friday afternoon at the Mountaineer Tennis Courts.<\/p>\n
Houston (17-5, 7-5 Big 12) opened the day taking the doubles point as juniors Valeriia Krokhotina<\/a> and Iva Sepa<\/a> dominated Lyla Byers and Sosanne Malaak, 6-0, on court three.<\/p>\n West Virginia (7-12, 1-11 Big 12) evened the doubles point as Julie Bousseau and Audrey Moutama defeated seniors Sophie Schouten<\/a> and Chems Doha Zeghlouli<\/a>, 6-4, on court one.<\/p>\n Juniors Elizaveta Morozova<\/a> and Petja Drame<\/a> downed Lucia Tognoni and Laura Morillo, 6-4, on court two to claim the doubles point for the Cougars.<\/p>\n In singles, Schouten earned her 15th win of the season as she bested Malaak, 6-2, 6-4, on court six to double Houston’s advantage.<\/p>\n Sepa won her second match in a row as she took care of Byers in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, on court four.<\/p>\n For the second match in a row, Drame clinched the match for the Cougars on court five with a pair of 6-3 set victories to push her win streak to four.\u00a0<\/p>\n DOUBLES \u2013 UHCougars.com \u2013<\/p>\n
