{"id":244396,"date":"2026-04-11T00:36:08","date_gmt":"2026-04-11T00:36:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/244396\/"},"modified":"2026-04-11T00:36:08","modified_gmt":"2026-04-11T00:36:08","slug":"texas-tech-regents-complete-review-of-course-content-on-sexual-orientation-gender-identity-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/244396\/","title":{"rendered":"Texas Tech regents complete review of course content on sexual orientation, gender identity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text\">LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) &#8211; A committee of the Texas Tech System regents <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastech.edu\/stories\/26-4-ttu-system-course-content-review.php\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.texastech.edu\/stories\/26-4-ttu-system-course-content-review.php\">has completed an internal review of course content<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The review focused on content related to sexual orientation, gender identity and what Tech labeled as \u201cprohibited advocacy concepts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Chancellor Brandon Creighton said the review is to comply with state and federal law.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The committee <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastech.edu\/downloads\/26-4-9-Memorandum-Chancellor-Creighton.pdf\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.texastech.edu\/downloads\/26-4-9-Memorandum-Chancellor-Creighton.pdf\">reviewed more than 14,000 courses offered this spring<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Tech will eliminate degree programs focused on sexual orientation or gender identity. Students already enrolled in these programs will be allowed to finish their degrees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">According to a memo from the chancellor, the committee recommended changes to dozens of courses. The memo listed the count as fewer than 60 courses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Creighton wrote the Tech system is not waiting to be told what compliance looks like.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe are defining it for the rest of the state and nation,\u201d Creighton said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"copyright |\">Copyright 2026 KCBD.
