Fort Worth\u2019s Leon Bridges and one his famous friends helped raised money for Tarrant County area nonprofits on Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

The \u201cComing Home\u201d singer and songwriter was joined by Kacey Musgraves at the River Ranch Stockyards for The Big Night,<\/a> the key fundraiser for Bridges and former TCU coach Gary Patterson\u2019s The Big Good.<\/p>\n

Since 2020,<\/a> the nonprofit has raised nearly $5 million to support local organizations focused on addressing critical unmet needs in the community.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event raised money for UpSpire\u2060, an employment program; Tarrant Area Food Bank; United Community Centers, focusing on food and literacy; and Tarrant To & Through Partnership, which steers students toward college or careers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank y\u2019all for being here, for making everything possible,\u201d Bridges told the crowd of hundreds.<\/p>\n

The Big Good\u2019s Big Night<\/p>\n

Now in its sixth year, Patterson said The Big Good keeps on growing thanks to Bridges.<\/p>\n

Patterson has been in the nonprofit space for more than 20 years now, after founding his namesake foundation in 2002. The mission of helping Fort Worthians is something shared by both men, who have such strong ties to the area.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt takes a village to make a difference in a community,\u201d Patterson told the Star-Telegram. \u201cIt\u2019s really starting to come to fruition.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abraham Alexander has been involved with The Big Good for a few years now, even performing at the first Big Night back in 2021.<\/p>\n

The Fort Worth singer, and Academy Award nominee<\/a>, has been friends with Bridges for more than a decade and said the organization\u2019s goals hits close to home.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was the kid that didn\u2019t have food to eat,\u201d Alexander told the Star-Telegram. \u201cPeople saw me. Seeing someone at times can be so difficult.\u201d<\/p>\n

When someone has the ability to see someone, and meet them where they\u2019re at, Alexander said that\u2019s how a difference is made.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat\u2019s how we truly change the city that we live in,\u201d Alexander said. \u201cOr, put our money where our mouth is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thursday\u2019s festivities kicked off around 7 p.m. with a performance by Alexander, followed by a welcome from Bridges and Patterson.<\/p>\n

It was during this time that Bridges mentioned that he\u2019s working on a new album, which he called his \u201cbest work yet.\u201d No release date has been set for the project, Bridges added.<\/p>\n

Musgraves took the stage after 9 p.m. and performed with the Fort Worth singer.<\/p>\n

The event came just over three weeks before Musgraves\u2019 new album \u201cMiddle of Nowhere\u201d releases on May 1. She joins a list of Big Night musical guests with ties to Bridges, such as Charley Crockett and Maggie Rogers.<\/a><\/p>\n
