<\/p>\n ARLINGTON,\u00a0Texas\u00a0\u2013 The UT Arlington softball team split its doubleheader on Friday against California Baptist, falling 11-8 in a back-and-forth game one before responding with a 2-0 shutout victory in game two at Allan Saxe Field.<\/p>\n The Mavericks now move to a 18-20 overall record and a 6-5 record in WAC play.<\/p>\n At the plate, the Mavericks were led by Kaitlyn Sailor<\/a>, who went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a double to pace UTA’s offense. The Mavericks totaled seven hits in the contest, with Mia McNulty<\/a>, Dee McClarity<\/a>, Peyton Holland<\/a>, Kelsey Creech<\/a> and Talia Maldonado<\/a> each adding a hit.<\/p>\n HOW IT HAPPENED \u00a0

\nUTA struck first in the top of the bottom of the second as Talia Maldonado<\/a> delivered an RBI double to right field, scoring Kaylee Schweitzer<\/a>.

\nFollowing a 30-minute weather delay before the bottom of the third, the Mavericks added to their advantage in the sixth. Sailor drove a double to center field, bringing home Peyton Holland<\/a> to extend the lead to 2-0.

\nOffensively and defensively, UTA held CBU scoreless the rest of the way to secure the shutout victory.
