EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 A fire broke out at the Marathon refinery in South Central El Paso on Friday evening, prompting a response from the El Paso Fire Department and refinery crews.<\/p>\n
The El Paso Fire Department said it received the call at 6:14 p.m. and classified it as a condition 3 response \u201conly because of the nature of the facility”. No one was transported for injuries, according to EPFD.<\/p>\n
Marathon\u2019s fire department led the response and handled the incident. The fire has since been contained. <\/p>\n
In a statement emailed to KFOX14\/CBS4, Marathon refinery said that while teams have extinguished the fire, air monitoring will be deployed as a precaution. <\/p>\n
“Trained teams extinguished a fire at Marathon\u2019s El Paso refinery this evening. There were no injuries reported. Air monitoring was deployed in the community as a precaution, and there was no indication of off-site impact,” Marathon refinery said. <\/p>\n
However, the cause of the fire is still unclear. <\/p>\n
