Here&#8217;s what to know."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S\u00edclov\u00eda, the free bicycling event that usually shuts down Broadway in the spring, has been rescheduled from this Sunday to May 3 because of rainy weather.<\/p>\n<p>Weather reports show high chances of rain in San Antonio this weekend. With April 12, the original date for S\u00edclov\u00eda. According to the National Weather Service, there\u2019s a 70% chance of precipitation on Sunday with a possibility of showers and thunderstorms<\/p>\n<p>This year marks the 24th year of S\u00edclov\u00eda and the 150th anniversary of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio, which has organized the event since 2011. <\/p>\n<p>The YMCA announced the rescheduling on Thursday through its <a href=\"https:\/\/ymcasatx.org\/programs\/community\/siclovia\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe look forward to the next S\u00edclov\u00eda event, which has been rescheduled for Sunday, May 3, 10 AM\u20132 PM,\u201d reads a banner at the top of the site. <\/p>\n<p>Shannon Gowen, vice president of marketing and communications at the YMCA, confirmed the rescheduling in an email.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team has been closely monitoring the weather this week, and due to the anticipated severe weather forecasted for Sunday, and with the safety of our community, volunteers, and partners as our top priority, we made the decision to reschedule S\u00edclov\u00eda,\u201d Gowen said. <\/p>\n<p>Meant to encourage San Antonio residents and visitors to explore the city through car-free streets, participants can expect walking, biking, exercise classes, youth activities, treats for their pets, and food trucks. <\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s route falls along Broadway, from East Mulberry Avenue in Brackenridge Park to McCullough Avenue downtown. To date, more than 1 million individuals have participated in the event.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"780\" height=\"1010\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-tx\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/640441092_1231981195723575_4982537774631737060_n.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5437074\"  \/>Credit: Courtesy of YMCA of Greater San Antonio<\/p>\n<p>S\u00edclov\u00eda is not a competitive event \u2014 it has no start or end. All participants have to do is show up, and water is available at every Reclov\u00eda along the route. During the event, the street completely closes to car traffic from an hour before S\u00edclov\u00eda to an hour after. <\/p>\n<p>This rainy weekend also marks other large events such as the San Antonio Book Festival, a semi-outdoor festival that usually draws about 22,000 attendants every year. <\/p>\n<p>The book festival is set to take place this Saturday, April 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Central Library and the University of Texas\u00a0San\u00a0Antonio Southwest Campus.<\/p>\n<p>San Antonio expects a high chance of rain and a chance of showers and thunder.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s unclear if other outdoor events will reschedule or cancel this weekend, but the book festival is a \u201crain or shine event,\u201d said spokesperson Laura H.
