The Rockets lost, 136-132, at Toyota Center to snap their longest win streak of the season at eight.<\/p>\n<p>The loss drops the Rockets to the No. 5 seed in the West with one game left.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Timberwolves welcomed back star guard Anthony Edwards, who logged 27 minutes in his first game in a week, but were without starters Rudy Gobert and Julius Randle, bench big Naz Reid, guard Bones Hyland and forward Joe Ingles.<\/p>\n<p>Neither team played much defense in a first half that featured a combined 142 points. Houston, on the second night of a back-to-back, shot a scorching 68.2% from the field across the first two quarters but only led by four. The culprits for that inadequate advantage? Minnesota shot a strong 56.5% from the field and made six triples \u2014 four more than Houston \u2014 and scored 11 points off seven Rocket turnovers.<\/p>\n<p>Houston extended its cushion to 10 in the third quarter but Edwards scored 12 of his 22 points in the period to keep Minnesota close \u2014 the Timberwolves briefly took a lead and ended the third quarter down three.<\/p>\n<p>Minnesota outscored Houston 27-14 over the first eight minutes of the fourth quarter to go up ten with 3:52 left. The Rockets got back within four with 68 seconds left but Edwards hit a step-back triple over former teammate Josh Okogie to seal the win.<\/p>\n<p>Every Timberwolves starter had at least 14 points, but it was Terrence Shannon Jr. who plagued them. The wing came off the bench and scored a team-high 23 points \u2014 the second-most he&#8217;s had all season \u2014 on 8-for-13 shooting. He made five threes, more than the Rockets, who shot 4-for-18 from deep.<\/p>\n<p>Thompson shot 16-for-21 from the field and added nine rebounds and seven assists. Kevin Durant added 33 points and Alperen \u015eeng\u00fcn had 22.
