EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14\/CBS4) \u2014 To celebrate BTS coming to El Paso, the County will present the K-pop group with a “friendly” award and officially declare the concert dates as “BTS Weekend.”<\/p>\n
According to El Paso County, Judge Ricardo Samaniego is inviting all Borderland fans of BTS to the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse in Downtown El Paso on Monday, April 27, as the County will present the resolution declaring May 2 and 3 “BTS Weekend” and present the K-pop group with the “Estimado Amigo” award.<\/p>\n
If you don’t know what the “Estimado Amigo” award is, it is a mini replica of the Lady Justice statue as seen at the entrance of the County Courthouse, and the County usually gives it to people to commend them on their leadership, services, or achievements. <\/p>\n
By the way, fun fact, “Chingu” is the Korean word for friend.<\/p>\n
But the question on everyone’s mind is, will BTS pick up the award? <\/p>\n
Sadly no.<\/p>\n
On behalf of BTS, the award will be picked up by Noah and Nadia Saenz, the creators of BoraPaso.com<\/a>, a BTS fan website that features a countdown to the concert as well as lists tips on how to prepare for the upcoming concerts; as well as by representatives from the County’s Economic Development department, the El Paso County Sheriff’s department, Destination El Paso and from the Office of Special Events at the University of Texas at El Paso.<\/p>\n The County is encouraging fans to wear purple colored clothing, as it is associated with the K-pop singers, to take pictures with the “amigo” award, which will be on display.<\/p>\n RELATED: BTS set to electrify El Paso with performances on May 2-3 during their world tour<\/a><\/p>\n The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m., at the Alicia Chacon Commissioner Courtroom, on the third floor of the Enrique Moreno County Courthouse, located at 500 E.
